Key Family Christmas

(This is just the cousins...)

Every year, the extended Key Family (about 40 people total) gets together in small-town east Texas for a BIG lunch/dinner, Chinese gift exchange, four-wheeler rides, rifle shooting.... and more eating. But mostly, it's a day full of smiles, joy, and laughter. Lots of laughter. Big, billowing, laughter.
Scott's friend from architecture school, Jun, came with us!
The Chinese gift exchange is always a riot, and the source of most of the laughter, as we relentlessly steal each other's gifts, scheme with our spouses to ensure that we get the gift we want, and open the one gift that no one is really sure that they want (this year it was a coin bank in the shape of a man's naked bum with his pants pulled down.... you can probably imagine where the coins were inserted.... and I will spare you the detail that when the coins are inserted, the coin bank farts....)
Yes, that would be a tool for castrating cows. Oh... Chinese gift exchange...
The above mentioned coin bank.

Castrating tools and farting coin banks,

New Orleans | 12.16-18.2011

New Orleans is only a 6 hour drive from Houston, so why we have lived in Houston for almost 3 years and have NOT frequented until now is beyond me!

Scott took me on a 3-day trip New Orleans for my birthday a few weekends ago! We so happened to go during the weekend of the New Orleans Bowl, in which the UL-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns played. Oh, and the whole Rajin' Cajun football team plus their cheerleaders and families were staying at our hotel.... Made for some late nights of listening to drunk people screaming down the halls until 3:00 a.m....

Aside from that, though! We had a blast :) We listened to jazz music, ate po-boys, shopped, walked around a beautiful park, and learned a bit of the history of New Orleans!

Day 1:
Haunted History Tour in the French Quarter
 Little walk down Bourbon Street
 Our haunted history tour guide

Day 2:
Bird who wanted to eat my beignets
Beignets for breakfast at Cafe Beignet
Macarons at Sucre on Magazine Street
Po-Boys at Guy's
Jazz music at BMC (Balcony Music Club)

Day 3:
French pastries for breakfast at La Boulangerie
 Walk through Audubon Park

And then we drove 6 hours home!

Tappin' my feet,

Ashton + Justin | Engagement | 12.23.2011

Ashton is my cousin, but we have had an invisible umbilical cord keeping us together amidst great distances and time between visits. She has been my best friend literally since the day I was born. I fell in love and married my high school sweetheart, and she stood by me on that day. Now, she is marrying her brother's best friend. A very mature, sweet, tender man who will love her the way I believe she should be loved, the way she deserves to be loved.

Her love of all things vintage was the inspiration for this photo shoot. Big thanks to my friends Emily and Julie for donating a few of the props!

I should mention that my husband (along with a few others) went in to buy me a brand new, amazing lens! Canon L Series 24-70mm f/2.8.... ahhh....

Bare feet and kisses,
